Team Surrey are pleased to announce the successful student-athletes being supported by the Dual Career Programme (DCP) in the 2021-22 academic year.
The DCP is a support service and financial package available to University of Surrey students who are pursuing a sporting career alongside their studies. The programme focuses on balancing success across all athletic and academic commitments, whilst continuously supporting holistic wellbeing.
There are two tiers of support – Elite and Talented – however, all athletes can access a number of support services including strength and conditioning, nutrition, psychology, physiotherapy, and performance lifestyle. Additionally, all Dual Career Athletes receive free access to Surrey Sports Park’s facilities and monetary awards to reduce the financial burden of their equipment costs and competition travel.
In total, 19 athletes made it onto the programme this year, with these including:
Tom Edwards, Sport Development Manager at Surrey Sports Park, commented: “The rebrand of the programme [formally known as Scholars] has enabled us to affirm our commitment to drive excellence both on and off the field of play. We are pleased to see so many athletes benefit from the support package this year, and look forward to watching them flourish at competitions throughout the rest of the season.”
You can now view the full profiles of the Dual Career Athletes on the website. Keep an eye the Team Surrey social media channels for updates on their progress throughout the rest of the year.
