JANUARY IN REVIEW
Thank you to everyone who moved with us in January! Whether it was working towards your new goals for 2022 or taking a break from the books, we saw another great month of physical activity.
Plus, we also discovered in January that a huge 1,029 unique users took part in challenges in 2021. Amazing work!
BRIT CHALLENGE 2022
Between now and March 3rd, we are encouraging all staff and students at the University of Surrey and Surrey Sports Park to join us in participating in the BRIT Challenge 2022. The BRIT Challenge is an inclusive feel-good February fundraiser for the Higher Education and Further Education sectors. The Challenge is designed to be completed by individuals working as a team to cover this year’s distance of 2,022 miles by either walking, running or cycling. In the process, we’re also looking to raise funds for charities the British Inspiration Trust and Oakleaf!
How can I take part?
Any individual can enter the challenge simply by being a SurreyMoves+ user, plus you can also enter as a team to compete for the highest distance travelled.
If you are competing as an individual, just make sure you have connected your tracker to the Moves+ app and we will be counting all walking, running, and cycling activity between 1st February and 3rd March 2022.
Looking add extra competition to your challenge? Join up with friends, colleagues or your club/society to form a team. Click HERE to register and ensure all the user emails linked to each member’s SurreyMoves+ account. Each member on the winning team will receive 1,000 SurreyMoves+ bonus points!
ELSEWHERE IN FEBRUARY...
As well as the BRIT Challenge, this month also marks Surrey Union’s Feel-Good February and Kelly’s Storage 5k and 10k runs. Read on to find out more…
FEEL-GOOD FEBRUARY
The Student Union’s Feel Good February campaign is centred around a month of events and activities to lift your mood and help you feel fitter. Try out Feel Good Feb weekly challenges in the SurreyMoves+ public groups, and our monthly challenges found on the Moves+ app. With several different levels of challenges, there is something for everyone to participate in and earn some prize points. Keep checking the Moves+ app to see what challenges are available each week!
KELLY'S RUNS
After two years away from a physical event, Kelly’s Guildford 10K Run is back on February 19th. Comprised of a choice between a 5K or a 10K run, this is a great opportunity for students and staff to participate in running around campus and the local area; all while raising money for some great charities.
This year, Surrey students have picked The Rainbow Trust, The Alzheimer’s Charity and Oakleaf Enterprise as the charities to support through the run. Entry is completely free with an optional donation for entry as well as a donation page set up for either individuals or a group. Visit the website HERE to learn more and sign up today!
Look out for the weekly challenges to build up your stamina in preparation of the runs.
NEW CHALLENGES
There’s a whole host of enticing new challenges to look out for on the app this month…

POINTS RESET
We would like to make SurreyMoves+ users aware that all point totals will be reset on 31st July 2022.
We hope this will maximise the use of points in the system and encourages more SurreyMoves+ users to take advantage of the fantastic rewards available on the app.
We encourage SurreyMoves+ users with high point totals to keep a close eye on our Rewards tab over the next six months to ensure their points do not go to waste.
In due course, we will also be running further giveaways similar to those in October and December so that users can spend their points with a view to winning some huge prizes. Click HERE to hear from the prize winners of the December giveaway.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at surreymoves@surrey.ac.uk and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
