University of Surrey Karting Club enjoyed an outstanding start to the British University Karting Championship earlier this month, with both the Mains & Inters teams excelling at Buckmore Park in Kent.
The Mains team achieved a Top 10 finish in the second round of the British University Karting Championship (Mains championship have two rounds per race meeting). This isSurrey´s best overall result since the BUKC inception. An impressive P4 from one of the club’s greatest ever drivers Adrian Porter followed by rookies Jack Eichler-Gregory, with a brilliant combative P9, and Tom Law with a solid P12. Berke Kasimay also finished off the round with a P21.
The Inters team leads the championship coming off the back of qualifiers back in November last year and a stellar result in Buckmore this month. The championship lead was captured with a stellar effort by getting a podium with an overall P2. The two Portuguese seniors were of tremendous importance with Gil Martins achieving an amazing P2 after intense battling and Manuel Nunes claiming his best ever result with a P3 after charging to the front of the pack early on. A superb showing for rookies Scott Paige, claiming P3 after an exciting race, and Travis Leung with a solid P7 as a backup result.
Overall, both teams performed at an extremely high level and established a solid framework for the rest of the season, where the Mains will aim to keep getting high results, and the Inters will aim to get more podiums and hold onto their championship lead.
