Team Surrey is excited to reveal the Welcome Week 2022 timetable and it’s set to be bigger and better than ever with an array of exciting events taking place between Sunday 18th and Sunday 25th September!
The week will see Surrey Sports Park play host two major student events including the expanded SurreyMoves+ Colour Run Festival 2022 on Wednesday 21st and the Team Surrey UV Night on the evening of Saturday 24th.
The week will culminate in traditional fashion with Freshers Fair on Friday 23rd at The Marquee on Stag Hill campus followed by Active Freshers at the Sports Park and off-site where students can try out an amazing variety of sports entirely free of charge over the weekend!
Team Surrey staff will also be out and about on campus throughout the week running a series of pop-up events and activities, as well as always being on hand to answer any questions about student sport in Surrey.
Here’s a look at what’s running during the week…
The Big Team Surrey Welcome
Sunday 18th September from 12:00-17:00 at Surrey Sports Park
Your first chance to meet Team Surrey and learn more about student sport at the University. There’ll also be plenty of opportunities to take part in some activities and fitness challenges while you’re at it!
We’ll have games such as Spikeball, Cornhole and Teqball on the go, while you can also try your hand at our rowing machine and Wattbike challenges to win some fantastic prizes. Bouldering will also be available at the Climbing Wall from 3pm onwards if you fancy sampling one of the Sports Park’s major facilities for the first time.
International Students Welcome Activities
Sunday 18th September from 12:00-17:00 at Surrey Sports Park
Our 90-minute sessions in Touch Rugby, Table Tennis and Netball offer fantastic opportunities for international students to try their hand at some of our activities. Meanwhile, the Surrey Sports Park guided tours are a great chance to take a closer look at our world-class sport and fitness facilities. These sessions are open to students of all sporting abilities and they offer the chance to take part in some casual activity while meeting some of your fellow students in the process.

SurreyMoves+ Colour Run Festival 2022
Wednesday 21st September from 12:00-16:30 at Surrey Sports Park
The legendary Colour Run returns bigger and better than ever for 2022 with music, activities, BBQ food, drinks…and powder paint!
Join us for an afternoon of fun culminating with the 2km student run around Surrey Sports Park grounds on the Wednesday of Freshers Week. Click HERE to check out the route.
This year’s event will start from midday with a festival zone providing entertainment in the form of sports games, BBQ food, a bar, a DJ , the Wheel of Winning and more before the Colour Run begins at 3pm. Your £5 ticket entitles you to your Colour Run T-shirt, sunglasses and an item of food from the BBQ.

SurreyMoves+ Campus Walk
Thursday 22nd September from 11:15-11:45 at AP Plaza
Meet the SurreyMoves+ team at AP Plaza on Stag Hill campus as we embark on a walk around the campus and lake area to help familiarise you with your new surroundings.
The team will point out some of the best areas to sit, chat and relax on campus and will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have about the area.
Hockey Shootout & Crazy Golf
Thursday 22nd September from 11:00-15:00 at AP Plaza
Try your hand at nine-hole crazy golf and a hockey shoot-out on AP Plaza and put yourself in the mix to win some great prizes such as Surrey Sports Park passes, Fitbits, food vouchers and more. There will also be a smoothie bike available so you can pedal your way to a delicious fruity drink!
This is a chilled-out activity as well as being a perfect chance to find out more about Team Surrey with staff members on hand to answer your questions.
Freshers Fair
Friday 23rd September from 09:00-17:00 at The Marquee on Stag Hill campus
Team Surrey will have a table at Freshers Fair along with all clubs and societies to tell you more about the student sport programme. There will also be an opportunity to win prizes and get discount vouchers for The Bench Bar!
Active Freshers
Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th September at Surrey Sports Park and off-site
Active Freshers is your chance to try out an array of different activities and meet our sports clubs for FREE. This is the go-to event for anyone looking to get involved in new activities and to learn more about Team Surrey. The majority of activities will take place at Surrey Sports Park, the home of Team Surrey, giving you the chance to try out some of the world class facilities. We also have the option to attend our off-site sports for a taster session throughout the weekend, as we have 14 sports which train outside of the Sports Park. There’s sure to be something for everyone!

Team Surrey UV Night
Saturday 24th September from 19:30-22:00 at Surrey Sports Park
Join us on the Saturday night of Freshers Week for an alternative night out at Surrey Sports Park!
Looking for something different to kick-start your Saturday night? This Team Surrey UV night is an opportunity for all students to come and experience Surrey Sports Park like you’ve never seen it before!
With the building closed to the public, the Sports Park will transform into its very own student night out with activities including UV climbing, UV clubbercise in the studios and a live DJ in the gym. Treat it as a sober night out or a unique way to ease into your Saturday evening!
