Team Surrey is excited to reveal the Welcome Week 2023 timetable and it’s set to be bigger and better than ever with an array of exciting events taking place between Saturday 16th and Sunday 24th September!
The week will see Surrey Sports Park play host to two major events; the Big Team Surrey Welcome on Monday 18th September and the SurreyMoves+ Colour Run Festival 2023 on Wednesday 20th September.
The week will culminate in traditional fashion with Freshers Fair on Friday 22nd at The Marquee on Stag Hill campus followed by Active Freshers at the Sports Park and off-site where students can try out an amazing variety of sports entirely free of charge over the weekend!
Team Surrey staff will also be out and about on campus throughout the week running a series of pop-up events and activities, as well as always being on hand to answer any questions about student sport in Surrey.
Here’s a look at what’s running during the week…
The Big Team Surrey Welcome
Saturday 16th and Sunday September 17th from 9:00 – 17:00 at Surrey Sports Park
This is a chance to ask your questions on a guided tour of Surrey Sports Park and then take part in one of our sporting activities! Join us and get involved in a wide range of different activities on offer throughout the day. Meanwhile, the Surrey Sports Park guided tours are a great chance to take a closer look at our world-class sport and fitness facilities. These sessions are open to students of all sporting abilities and they offer you the chance to take part in some casual activity while meeting some of your fellow students in the process!
Team Surrey Takeover
Monday 18th September from 10:00 – 16:00 at PATS Field and AP Plaza
Join Team Surrey on PATS Field and AP Plaza to meet a range of Club Sport teams and see what they can do! There will be a wide range of sports, but particularly off-site sports such as rowing, sailing and equestrian. Join us during the day to ask Team Surrey questions and meet the teams. This is also an opportunity to learn more about Team Surrey’s physical activity app, SurreyMoves+ where you can track your exercise, connect with friends and earn points which can be redeemed for prizes.
SurreyMoves+ Colour Run Festival
Wednesday 20th September from 12:00 – 16:00 at Surrey Sports Park
The legendary Colour Run returns bigger and better than ever for 2022 with music, activities, BBQ food, drinks…and powder paint!
Join us for an afternoon of fun culminating with the 2km student run around Surrey Sports Park grounds on the Wednesday of Freshers’ Week! This year’s event will start from midday with a festival zone providing entertainment in the form of sports games, BBQ food, a bar, a DJ, the Wheel of Winning and more before the Colour Run begins at 1pm. Your £5 ticket entitles you to your Colour Run T-shirt and an item of food from the BBQ.

Team Surrey on AP Plaza & Get to know your campus with SurreyMoves+
Thursday 21st September from 10:00 – 16:00 at AP Plaza
Try your hand at a series of challenge on AP Plaza and put yourself in the mix to win some great prizes such as Surrey Sports Park passes, Fitbits, food vouchers and more. There will also be a smoothie bike available so you can pedal your way to a delicious fruity drink! This is a chilled-out activity as well as being a perfect chance to find out more about Team Surrey with staff members on hand to answer your questions.
Meet the SurreyMoves+ team at AP Plaza on Stag Hill campus as we embark on a walk around the campus and lake area to help familiarise you with your new surroundings. The team will point out some of the best areas to sit, chat and relax on campus and will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have about the area.
Freshers Fair
Friday 22nd September from 09:00 – 17:00 at The Marquee on PATS Field
Explore the 180+ clubs, societies, departments and external companies and learn about the amazing opportunities that your University Life has to offer (and also grab a massive bag of freebies of course!) This is the best way to round off your week!
Active Freshers
Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September all day at Surrey Sports Park
We are excited to say that Active Freshers Fair will be returning on the 23rd and 24th September 2023!
Active Freshers is your chance to try out an array of different activities and meet our sports clubs for FREE. This is the go-to event for anyone looking to get involved in new activities and to learn more about Team Surrey. The majority of activities will take place at Surrey Sports Park, the home of Team Surrey, giving you the chance to try out some of the world class facilities. We also have the option to attend our off-site sports for a taster session throughout the weekend, as we have 14 sports which train outside of the Sports Park. There’s sure to be something for everyone!
