Team Surrey is the heart of all sport and physical activity at the University. Each year there are hundreds of activities, projects, and events to help our Surrey students move, play, or perform within their sport or activity.
The three strands of Team Surrey’s ‘Move | Play | Perform’ ethos supports every level of activity, from the dual career athletes pursuing a sporting career alongside their studies to the free-to-use SurreyMoves+ app which promotes health and wellbeing for staff and students.
Earlier this year Surrey was one of only 23 universities in the world to receive Platinum Healthy Campus status by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) for its commitment to staff and student wellbeing. The Healthy Campus programme aims to enhance all aspects of wellbeing for students, staff, and any campus visitor.
Its commitment to excellence across all aspects of student sport saw Team Surrey shortlisted for the Excellence in Student Sport award at the College and University Business Officers (CUBO) awards earlier this year.
In 2024, as part of a dedicated staff programme for sport and physical activity, the team will be launching an Active Wellbeing Hub, which will be a one-stop shop highlighting all active wellbeing opportunities for colleagues.
Georgina Agnies, Director of University Sport said: “The 2022/23 academic year has been nothing short of extraordinary, marked by unparalleled achievements and an unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of physical activity and sporting excellence within our university community.
“Last year saw a significant surge in student participation. More students than ever before embraced sport and physical activity. This accomplishment speaks volumes about the inclusive environment we have cultivated and the experiences we can offer students.
“We’re really proud of students’ successes and the impact the programmes have had over the year. Be sure to check out the review for some of the highlights!”
