Jade Dancaster enrols on Women’s Leadership Programme with FA & BUCS!

Team Surrey Women’s Football captain Jade Dancaster is representing the University on the FA and BUCS Women’s Leadership Programme as part of the 2022/23 cohort.

The award-winning programme aims to unlock the potential of female students aspiring to work in women’s football by helping provide a competitive edge when they enter the job market.

Jade, who studies Sport & Exercise Science and is also a student coach, has enrolled on the programme for the current academic year alongside 20 other students from universities across the country.

The purpose of the programme is to support the delivery team to provide high-quality personal and professional development experiences to change the lives of the programme participants.

Speaking about her experiences on the programme, Jade said: “Wow. Upon completion of 1/3 residentials coordinated by the FA and BUCS, I am still in admiration for every person whom I’ve networked with over the weekend. The Women’s Leadership Programme has allowed me to explore my reasoning as to WHY I’m wanting to become a leader. I’ve only known the girls for 72 hours and yet I’ve already cemented life long friendships.

We were encouraged to solidify trust in our talented peers early on, where we all expressed infinite support to one another. We gently but firmly encouraged each other to safely stretch out of our comfort zone, which is what this programme is about. I am already excited for to the next residential with this amazing group of people. A special thanks to BUCS and the FA for organising this priceless event. Practice makes BETTER!”

Jade has been a fantastic role model for the University since starting on the programme and brings to life the values, behaviours and professional standards which she empowers in the people she is around. Team Surrey wish Jade well on her next residential and look forward to hearing about the knowledge, experience and technical skills that she has developed.
