On the 14th April, 17 competitors from the University of Surrey Trampolining Club travelled to Cambridge for the annual BUCS competition. The eagerly anticipated event draws universities from all over the country for the only BUCS Trampoline competition of the year.
A total of four Surrey students qualified for the finals, with some placing above over 100 other competitors to place in the top eight of their category.
PhD student Solomon Melides earned himself a bronze medal in the S5 category; following an outstanding performance in his final.
The Club returned to Surrey with one medal, a host of personal best achievements and unfortunately a president with a broken arm (we wish her a speedy recovery).
We spoke to the Club's Competition Secretary, Ella Gannon, about the weekend:
"The Club's performance was incredible, with the majority of competitors coming in the top half of their category."
Looking to the future Gannon added, "Our last competition is coming up this Saturday 21st in Southampton."
"This is the last competition in the southern league so this is where we will out what place we came overall as a club.
"We are hoping for some overall league medal winners thanks to our competitors' flawless performances throughout the year."
We wish the Club the best of luck for their competition this weekend, and hope they can bring back some more silverware!
