Fencing – Amazing results at BUCS individuals

Fencing – Amazing results at BUCS individuals

A group of nine fencers competed at the BUCS individual competition in February and came away with 6 medals. Our beginner Foilists came away with three of those medals, Maeva just losing out on 1st in a well fought final to Nashan who took a well earned first place in women’s after her 15:03 victory in the semis, both with only 5 months experience.

We also came away with a 1st in the men’s beginner foil with Dan taking gold after fencing well all competition, including a brilliant final match and very clean fencing throughout after only 5 months. Two of our fencers also picked up a new weapon in the previous two months and came away with bronze medals, Jamie in Sabre and Chloe in Epee. Our final medal came from the president Lizzie who came 2nd in the Novice Epee with a clean sweep in the fights for ranking and a close fought semis and finals. Overall, we as a club could not be happier with how everyone fenced. Everyone who came fenced amazingly and we are looking to the future with a strong outlook for varisity later this year and BUCS next year.
