Team Surrey Snowsports closed out their season in style at the National Final of the Kings Ski competition as the Surrey 1st Ski Team finished fourth overall, while Tristan Afrait won the snowboarding finals.
The Snowsports club travelled to Gloucester to compete in the Finals on April 29th after finishing in second place of the Southern Regionals, with the top eight teams from the regional rounds qualifying for this event. With progression to the National Finals secured, the team stormed to success by finishing 4th overall out of 47 teams.
There was also success in the individual competition where racers needed to place top 30 in the first individual run to qualify for the second run. Three Surrey skiers qualified with the final results being Tom Campbell (13th male), Ben Canini (23rd male) and Katie Ayling (9th female).
Race Captain Katie Ayling was very proud of her team, saying: “It has been an amazing year and to have these results at my final event as race captain is super special, thank you everyone for the support!”.
Furthermore, Surrey Snowsports’ very own Tristan Afrait took the win in the snowboarding finals despite injuring himself by showing dominance by winning the male category by over a second.
