Team Surrey Netball duo Taren Ayivor-Grant and Giselle Burnett have been selected for the Bartercard Surrey Storm U21 National Performance League squad ahead of the new season.
Ayivor-Grant and Burnett are both part of the Team Surrey Dual Career Programme and they currently play together for the University first team, with third-year Media & Communications student Ayivor-Grant captaining the side.
The two athletes also represent their home teams at a regional and Premier League level with Ayivor-Grant representing Crystal Palace and Burnett turning out for Weston Park Blades.
The pair’s selection in the Storm squad means they will now be exposed to the highest levels of netball performance with this presenting an excellent opportunity to develop their own gameplay.
Ayivor-Grant said: “It’s been an intense start to the season, but we’re ready and so excited for the season ahead! With a new Surrey Storm and BUCS squad we can’t wait to see what we can do!”
Meanwhile, Burnett, who is a first-year Psychology student, said: “I’m really excited for the opportunity to be apart of the BUCS 1s squad and Surrey Storm U21’s this season, surrounded by lots of talented athletes. I can’t wait for the matches ahead!”
Everyone at Team Surrey would like to congratulate Taren and Giselle on their selection. Both athletes’ dedication to netball is an inspiration for young athletes entering the sport and we are extremely proud of their achievements.
