We would like to update you on our current position over Coronavirus (COVID-19). At present, Surrey Sports Park remains open, however having collectively reviewed the most recent government advice and information from the individual sporting bodies, we have made an informed decision to postpone ALL Team Surrey sporting activity (including Club Sport, Playsport, and campus activity) from 23:59 on Fri 20th March until 07:00 Monday 27th April. While we have suspended all organised activity, we will constantly be reviewing the latest guidance as this is a fast moving situation and will be in contact as appropriate.
This means that any club training sessions scheduled for this week (W/C 18th March) can still go ahead BUT please check with your members first to ensure that you would be using these training sessions/space effectively, as we are conscious that a lot of students have made the decision to self-isolate/have already returned home.
For many clubs, this is actually only bringing the Easter break forward by a week so not a huge amount changes. For others that would be training through the Easter break, we’re very sorry that we have had to make this decision, but such unprecedented times call for such action.
We understand there is a lot of uncertainty for all of us surrounding COVID-19 . Given the nature of the activities that we deliver we feel this is the most socially responsible and appropriate action for us to take at this stage. The safety and wellbeing of our students and teams is our top priority, so we will continually work to keep our procedures up to date following the latest government guidance, which can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public.
We hope you all stay safe and are able to look after yourselves and your loved ones with minimal disruption.
